Project Partnerships

The most critical need is to provide homeless children with shelter, clothing, and food. The children will then begin the process of re-identifying with family and local social groups. An integral part of this process is to provide schooling and vocational training. Lastly, but perhaps most important, is the need to educate village adults and children in HIV-AIDS awareness and the measures for preventing the spread of this disease.

A global partnership has been established to address the needs of these children. The Fox Family created Foxes Community and Wildlife Conservation Trust, a non-governmental organization to lead the effort locally. They have worked with friends in Great Britain and the United Stated to establish sister organizations. Orphans in the Wild, a registered United Kingdom charity, will raise funds in Great Britain and Europe, while Mufindi Orphans, Inc. has been incorporated in the United States as a 501-C-3 non-profit organization to direct the North American fund raising efforts. These three sister organizations share some directors and/or officers.

There are a number of partner organizations that have heard about the Project and that have made major contributions in areas where they have special interests or expertise. This has involved the donation of funds, the commitment, or sponsorship, of staff resources, new or refurbished buildings, and the delivery of needed clothing, school supplies, books, and in some cases, medical supplies and equipment.

Examples of partner organizations include, among others:

  • The African Children's Book Box Society, Victoria, BC, Canada www.africanbookbox.org

  • Equip Canada, Duncan, BC, Canada
  • Equip Canada volunteer with orphans and housemothers

The Mufindi Highlands Orphans Project team is dedicated to helping local orphaned children and the communities they come from by expanding the number of orphan's dorms with housemothers, upgrading local hospitals and medical clinics, adding classroom space, and establishing a community outreach program for the villagers.

Progress has been made, but much remains to be done. The Mufindi Highlands Orphans Project is built on a needs assessment, a realistic development plan, and the partnership between villagers, local supporters, local government agencies, allied organizations, and people like you.

Classrooms in village schools are crowded
and classroom numbers are being increased
